My teenage daughter was stopped around 9 p.m. at a rural four-way stop in Trinity, Alabama. She came to a stop and went on through. A minute later she saw blue lights in her rearview mirror and didn't think they were for her. She pulled over when she realized it was. The local officer (town of 1,000) told her she had run the stop sign. She said she had stopped and the car had settled back into a stop position before she went on. He said the law states that you must stop, let the car become stationary and then wait four additional seconds before proceeding. You should try that sometime. It seems like a really, really long time. And I guarantee if someone else had been at that four-way stop they would have been honking their horn at her to move on! Anyway, he wrote the ticket, she burst into tears, he told her he was trying to "save her life" by getting her to stop. She went to court and was allowed to go to driving school to keep it off her record. That was a $100 lesson that I'm not sure helps much. I believe she was stopped because she's a teenager, driving an old Honda with lots of rock band stickers on the back. I don't think he would have stopped an older person in a Cadillac. But what can you do?

Hello Sir,
I have read your story and i am feeling bad for it.Yes ,you are saying absolutely right sir,if in place of your teenager daughter there was someone else ,they will never stop them. But you know at that time, nobody going to listen her as already it was 9:00 pm there. We cannot do anything at that time and even now.but someone has to raise some steps to avoid these kind of happenings.
