This is the weirdest, most screwed up thing the state has done to me yet.
Let me start off with the details...
Location: Del Rey oaks, CA on the Monterey Peninsula.
Accusation: Headlights out.
THE SUN WAS STILL COMPLETELY OUT.
I was driving back to my friends house after picking up some snacks to prep on Fourth of July, in 2009.
I was turning off the small highway to a left (which was legal) and the cop stopped on the opposite side and waited for me to turn. This confused me as I had been doing nothing wrong.
He pulls me over as soon as I turn, and gives me a ticket for my headlights not being on, when it was still bright out. The sun had not set at all.
Where I was located, fireworks are illegal. Literally 100 feet away, People were lighting illegal fireworks. I'm the one getting the ticket? Really?
The cop precedes to not write a court date on my ticket so I assume I will just be billed. So I never show up for court, because I didn't know of it. They are now charging me $500 for something I originally shouldn't have even been ticketed for.
Anyone?
