Traffic Agent Assaulted by Angry Boyfriend

Young woman writing on traffic ticket

A man was charged with assault and harassment on a uniformed traffic agent in Port Richmond on October 4. The attack was made because the man was angry over the agent issuing the man’s girlfriend a ticket.

According to reports, the 27-year-old man looked for the ticket agent after the agent issued the man’s girlfriend a ticket. Footage available of the attack show the man on his cellphone just moments before approaching the agent. The man follows the agent across a street, ends his call and then sucker punches the agent in the neck from behind.

As a result of the attack, the agent lost consciousness and fell to the ground. The agent was taken to Staten Island University Hospital North where he was treated for bruising to his neck and a head injury. He is expected to recover.

While receiving a traffic citation is never a happy event, attacking the agent who issues it is not in your best interest. Now the man in this instance has much more to worry about than a traffic fine and a person who was just doing his job is forced to deal with injuries he shouldn’t have sustained.
